Given the number and quality of middle distance specialists appearing on these pages, it seems only fair that they should have their own page. There are only eight at present but the number will have to grow. The criteria here will be that the athletes in question must have been Scottish record holders or Scottish champions or high quality specialist Scottish milers and half milers. It is an event that is popular all over the world - there are three classic standard distances in athletics. The marathon which will continue to be covered, the mile which will be have more coverage and the 100 metres which will not be touched unless it comes with a 700 or 1400 metres run-up. There have been many great Scots in the event and the aim will be to cover as many as possible. The most recent addition is a list of Under 17 all-time GB mile rankings.
